While NBC was showing another full night of Olympic figure skating (…yawn) I thought it would be a great opportunity to watch one of those Netflix movies sitting in the mail pile. You know… one of those documentaries that looks interesting late at night while looking for lost episodes of Jonny Quest. It was a Nova special made back in 2003 called Magnetic Storm that explained that every 200 thousand years the earth goes through a polarity switch where the south pole becomes the north. The last time a switch happened was about 780 thousand years ago so we’re long overdue for another one.
Does this mean my toilet will be flushing in the opposite direction?
Maybe it happened in the last 5 years and no one noticed?
Polar bear are sooooooooooo cute! Will I get one in this temperate desert in 2010? The following link may not be suitable for all viewers… if you are sensitive to animal cruelty, I applaud you! Polar Bears are people too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxis7Y1ikIQ&feature=player_embedded
I wonder what the carbon footprint of the 2010 Winter Olympics is?
