At the end of October, Adobe demonstrated Flash’s newly acquired HTML export ability (preview only).
Holy SVG Batman… Look at all those commented divs!
Adobe has not only demonstrated a handy export ability, but they’ve extended the mortal life of the Flash product by a few years by adding excellent markup to the exported files. For now you can copy and past divs into Dreamweaver (which supports animations), but I can envision support for a library of HTML animations exported for project sharing. Reusable elements are the key to workflow.
3 cheers for Adobe. Even though their CEO likes to rant and battle with the Jobs, their caffeine addicted dev teams and Powerthirst filled programmers continue to impress. CS6 already looks to be more impressive than the past few ho-hum releases.

Mike Winkelmann is featured in Hugh Hart’s article, “Maker of Manic Robot-Drummer Video Shares the Code” (via @Wired). This maniac of a Cinema 4-D user creates everything from, seemingly random, timely wonkiness to Aphex Twin style (ala Chris Cunningham) videos. He also has the balls guts to post the source code under Creative Commons.
Side note: Notice Sound Cloud on Creative Commons? And some of you thought CC would never make it…
He wonders, as I now do, what would happen if art, motion graphics in this case, went open source? What if we stopped being afraid to show our code or expose our techniques to fellow designers, programmers, and artists? What if we shared our love for creation in such a raw manner. Coders for programmers… artisans for artists… illustrators for designers.
Would we sink or swim?
In reality, we already do… we are open source: Drupal, “You Suck at Photoshop” tutorials, art exhibitions, universities, etc, etc.

Apple recently changed their iOS policy to once again allow third-party developers to compile applications for submission to Apple for inclusion in iTunes App store!
Isn’t this great news for Flash developers everywhere? Especially those in school at the moment as they receive nice discounts on Apple and Adobe products to begin early development on projects. Continued investment in Flash will not be lost! That’s if, Adobe communicated this to developers…
I haven’t heard so much as a peep from Adobe’s marketing department other than the original original blog post and an update to the iOS packager page. Where’s the email marketing campaign to promote awareness? Where’s the microsite to show off what internal Adobe developers are doing/have done and a place to promote independent developer apps that have been created in Flash?
Come on Adobe… pick up the ball and run with it.
This is our chance to save Flash before it’s crushed by the new HTML5 standard. Maybe you should let us pitch you some ideas for promoting this rediscovered feature of Flash CS5? Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Google has gone SSL! No, not the A/V brand… secure searches dummy (j/k).
Now, this doesn’t mean no one can capture your information, but it does mean it would be difficult for third-parties to see what you’re searching for. With security issues plaguing Microsoft for years, Apple regularly updating Mac OS because of new security breaches, Facebook joining the reindeer games, and now Twitter’s most recent hax0rs making life a genuine PITA for in-house devs… Google has made the addition of SSL into the main search engine page as Beta.
Do you know how to make your site secure? We do if you ask nicely.
SSL occurs at the server level so it must be implemented by both your development team and your hosting service. If you’re lucky, these are on in the same. And yes, we provide design, development, and wicked awesome hosting services with SSL if necessary. You usually won’t need an “https” version of your site unless you deal with personal data (i.e. credit card numbers, health history, etc), but better safe than sorry these days.

Fifteen year old Stephan Ou whipped the Apple’s ass with his Instafy-ing of iTunes. Gizmodo reports it’s faster than iTune’s built-in search. Right on the heels of Google Instant, this genius one-ups the 19yo YouTube insta-fier sensation.
Next we’ll see 9yo’s developing iPhone Apps!
We all just got schooled ya’ know… I will hang my head in shame.
